Soloist | Beethoven's Missa Solemnis
Milwaukee Symphony
Beethoven wrote his Missa solemnis to “awaken and permanently instill spiritual feelings … in singers and listeners alike.” Framed by the structure of the Catholic mass, the work becomes both a luminous testament of faith and a tribute to our shared humanity. This performance closes Music Director Ken-David Masur’s final season and marks the Milwaukee Symphony Chorus’ 50th anniversary. As Beethoven inscribed on the score’s first page: “From the heart—may it go to the heart.”
